This article provides a step-by-step walkthrough of how to create your own children's book using the AI Children Book Maker from WickedApps.
- After purchase, sign in to the app online at https://app.childrensbookmaker.net/login
- The main dashboard is displayed after sign in. Click Get Started.
- Step 1 has two options: Idea Generator and Idea Outliner.
The Idea Generator will generate a list of ideas for you automatically. Alternatively, if you already have a general idea for the outline of your story, click on Idea Outliner for additional refinement. Examples of both are outlined below:
Idea Generator
To generate a list of random ideas from scratch, simply click on Click to Generate Random Ideas.
A list of 10 ideas will be generated. To save the list of ideas, click on Download Text File or Copy to Clipboard, if you prefer to copy and paste the ideas in to an existing text file.
Idea Outliner
If you already have an idea for your story, use Idea Outliner to generate a summary to be used by the AI tool. Type your text in the field then click Generate Random Ideas.
A list of 10 ideas will be generated. To save the list of ideas, click on Download Text File or Copy to Clipboard, if you prefer to copy and paste the ideas in to an existing text file. - The next step is to generate a title for your book. Copy and paste your story idea into the text field, then click Generate Titles.
- Five suggested titles will be displayed for several different age groups. Copy your favorite title or click Download Text File to save a copy of all suggested titles.
Click on the link at the bottom to continue to the story generator page. - Enter your chosen title, an age range for your book, and tone. The default tone is "Casual." You can try other tones such as formal, informal, professional, humorous, etc. Paste your story idea in the text field then enter the writing style (defaults to Typical Children's Book) and number of pages.
Click Generate Story and then your story will be created within minutes! - Your story will be generated and, again, you can either copy it to your clipboard or download the text file using the appropriate button. If you are happy with the content, you can click on the bottom link to generate a Copyright Page. If you want to make edits, click on the link to use the rewrite tool (see step 8).
- Rewriting existing content is as simple as describing the changes you want made in the Changes field, pasting the text you want altered in the Content field, then click Submit to generate a rewrite.
You can rewrite the entire story or only specific sections or pages. - Rewritten content will be generated, as pictured below, which can again be copied to your clipboard or downloaded as a text file.
Click the link at the bottom to proceed to generating your Copyright Page. - This step is optional. You can enter your name, contact information, and/or the ISBN for your book (as applicable). Click Generate to continue.
- Your copyright page content will be displayed and can be copied to your clipboard or downloaded as a text file.
Click the link at the bottom to continue to generating your book's title page. - Enter your title and name then click Generate.
- Copy or download the text file then click on the link to generate text for the back cover of your book.
- Describe what you would like written on the back cover and click Generate.
- Your content will be displayed for you to copy or download. Click the link to start making illustrations to continue.
- The Images and Variations Generator is used to create images for your book. Helpful suggestions are displayed on the right-hand side.
- To generate images, enter a description and enter a number of images to be generated. Up to three images can be generated at a time. Click Generate Images to continue. Please note that it may take a few minutes for your images to be created.
- In the example below, I've generated three images for a scary looking haunted house. Click the Download buttons under any images you would like to download and use in your book.
Note: it is recommended to download all images to the same folder on your PC so it will be easy for you to find and sort through them later.
The Variations button is a useful too to generate slight variations of an existing image. Three variations will be generated. Below is an example of the variations generated for the middle image above:
Click Download under any images you would like to save.
There is no limit to the number of images you can generate so it is recommended to experiment with different descriptive prompts and generating variations to find the perfect fit for your book. - When you are done generating and downloading images, click the "All Done!!! Now it's time to publish it" link.
- The final screen provides basic advice on publishing your book.
